Ahmedabad saw a delightful event called the ‘Weekend Window’. Held at one of the most happening places of Ahmedabad – Goodies Cafe, this event took place on the weekend i.e. 13th to 15th September 2013.
At the entryway, we find a beautiful red BMW car, a showcase by the sponsors. Blaring live music in the background sets up the mood. The ambience is energizing set with neon shades and bright lanterns. The atmosphere was vibrant and live. The event gained recognition by word of mouth, pulling up crowds so much by the end of weekend that there was hardly any place to stand and ponder.
Showcasing around 20 designers and a few other stalls, the event had something to offer for everyone from dainty little earrings and hairpins to grungy earthy coloured kurtas to mobile cases and cosmetics. Also seen were wacky stuff like rings made out of ball bearings and shoes made of buttons.
“I loved the jholas and plazo pants at Vraj Bhoomi. Also, the Indo western collection at Crow from Surat was a fresh change from regular wear” noted Priyanka, an avid shopper. “Shoe Crea had some amazing collection of shoes that I’ve never seen in malls and retail stores. The handmade I-pad covers were handy and stylish at the same time” noted another excited shopper. People were ardently waiting to get themselves clicked along with their friends at the ‘Photo Booth’. After all who would want to miss a chance of capturing a memory of a lifetime experience?
The USP of the festival was the young designers and their unique collection. Not only the shoppers benefitted, also the designers received a chance to boost their brand. Stall owner Noopur Shah was very happy with the feedback received at her stall. “Variety of people come to Goodies and my brand has been exposed to a huge crowd.”
When visiting such events, one realizes the ocean of talent and creativity in people. The organizers have done a great job by bringing together fresh, new artists and designers. A pat on the back to the organizers and all the stall owners. This combined with a hearty dinner at Goodies, is a perfect recipe for a memorable weekend!
