THE SABARMATI CYCLOTHON

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in association with the Ahmedabad Bicycling Club is organising a ‘Cyclothon’, i.e. a cycle marathon in Ahmedabad on 27th January, 2013. A first of its kind in the state, the cyclothon is being managed and planned to perfection so as to make it the biggest in the country!

Subdivided into 3 categories, this cyclothon with three different routes between Sabarmati Riverfront and Science City – is one that suits all. There is a Century Race for the virtuosos in cycling on a route length of 105 km and a Half-Century Race for the trained and athletic ones for a length of 48.5 km. The third is a ‘Dream Run’ for amateurs, open for all age groups on a short route of 16 km only. Gearless Indian made cycles have a separate category in the Half Century Race.

Cycling is one of the most effective forms of exercise and for the fitness enthusiasts it is must to train on the cycle even in the gym. Apart from this cycling is ‘green’ it doesn’t cause any harm to our environment. This is reason enough to shed you cars and bikes for a day and get into the cycling mode. Who knows you develop a new pastime hobby of cycling! And for prizes ranging from fifty grand to a whopping two-hundred grand, with separate categories for male and female as well as citizens aged above 45, it is worth taking your bicycles out of the garages and get practising!
