Satori- Let’s Not Yawn (Ahmedabad)

“I have always imagined that paradise will be kind of a library.” ~ Jorges Luis Borges

If this quote perfectly matches your thoughts, then Satori-“Let’s not yawn” is the club for you. Satori-“Let’s not yawn” is an Ahmedabad based multilingual literature club intended to showcase the experiences of literary enthusiasts with their pen and paper.

When varied individuals read the same book, they have different thoughts and reactions to it.  Based on this concept, every month literature of different genres and languages is discussed at this club, thereby enriching one’s knowledge of varying literary forms. Every member of the group can contribute to the session with their own creations, making the session a complete experience.

Sir Francis Bacon once said, “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.” Following this thought, the members of this group meet at least once every month to discuss either their own works or other poets/authors. Any member is free to participate and hold sessions. And since it’s a moving club, you get to decide the venue as well.

This month, the club members are discussing the works of Emily Dickenson on Sunday, 13th January, 2013 at Sabarmati Ashram from 4.00 PM onwards. Emily Dickenson, a blind poet who wrote nearly 1800 poems during her lifetime is going to be the centre of appreciation this weekend.

Satori is a Zen word meaning ‘A flash of sudden awareness’. This club is exactly doing that for literary enthusiasts of Ahmedabad. To know more about this club, visit their Facebook page:
