Ahmedabad is now home to a multitude of restaurants that serve an eclectic variety of food items spread across genres. One such offering that has caught the fancy of food lovers in the city is Nini’s Kitchen. Located at Camps Corner 2, Opposite Prahlad Nagar Garden, Prahlad Nagar, Nini’s Kitchen is the baby of Navneet and Ankit.
The love for this place is evident from the brightly lit décor, the amazing graffiti on the wall, the brilliant food inspired posters and the cheery hosts – all of which welcome the hungry patron with open arms. The collection of books in the wooden stand in one corner and the bright ambience of the place lend a bohemianesque feel to the place.
Nini’s Kitchen serves a wide variety of juices, mocktails, wraps, pizzas, salads and regular Punjabi fare.
Some of the juices include Merry Berry (Black Grapes, Strawberry, Apple & Lemon), Almost Sangria (Sweet Lime, Apple, Pineapple & Grapes) and Hangover Cure (Orange, Mango, Pineapple & Banana)
For a person who likes freshly blended combination fruit mocktails, the assortment on the menu is a delight.
A warm bowl of soup is just perfect in cold weather. The Tomato Soup and The Hot and Sour soup (traditional favorites for many) are perfect examples of subtle tastes and textures.
The wide variety of salads (which include fresh fruits and vegetables) are a must have for the salad lovers. The (Tomato, Orange, Pineapple, Cucumber, Capsicum, Bell Peppers, Lettuce, Olives, Dressing) is a good example of how simple ingredients topped with lovely dressing can be a sensory delight – both visual and gastronomic.
The choice of items on the Starters Menu leaves one confused with brilliant choices. A simple way to eliminate the confusion would be to just order the Assorted Starters Platter (Stuffed Mushrooms, Paneer, Potatoes, Baby Corn, Hara Bhara Kebabs). The paneer simply melts in your mouth. The mushrooms – well – taste very mushroomy and the marinade on the components leaves one licking ones’ fingers.
For those who wish to indulge in some Lebanese food, the Pita Bread with Hummus is highly recommended. The smooth texture of the hummus and the garlicky punch on them leaves one wanting for more. Wrap lovers also get a selection of different items. The Mixed Shawarma (Paneer, Mushrooms, Potatoes) is highly recommended. Apart from the lovely wrap and the fillings, a major highlight for this dish is the accompaniments. The three dips (cream, hummus and something garlicky) can be had on their own.
For those in mood for some pasta, Nini’s Kitchen offers some good pasta and sauce staples. The Pesto Pasta is one must have item on the list.
The Sweet & Spicy Barbeque Pizza is a major ‘never-to-be-missed’ item on the menu. The crust, the gravy, the toppings and the cheese leave one wanting for more. Nini’s Kitchen’s pizzas alone can have the chain-pizzerias running for their money.
For those who do not wish to stray from the regular Punjabi fare, standard items like the Veg Handi and the Tandoori items are available. The stuffed parathas need a special mention. The parathas are stuffed with fresh ingredients and one can distinctly savour the filling inside the crisp exterior.
The desserts often change and the day’s specials are put up on a vast blackboard. Sweet cravings can be satisfied with the Jar Cakes and Carrot Cake with Almond Sauce. Make sure to get those when available. The Hot Chocolate served at this place is thick, hot and sinfully chocolatey. One simply cannot afford to miss this heavenly delight.
The Paan Chocolate offered at the end of the meal is a good blend of mouth freshening aromatics with dark chocolate.
All in all, this fantastic establishment is a must visit place on any foodie’s list. Multiple visits to the establishment have proven the consistency of the food preparation. Don’t take our word for it. Try it for yourself!
