L.D College of Engineering

Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering is located in the university area of Ahmedabad. Established in 1948 and a donation of 25 lacs by Kasturbhai Lalbhai, it is named after his beloved father. It was the first engineering college of Gujarat (Pride). The campus has 14 departments, offices, 6 hostel blocks (A-F), and library, with 64,565 sq. meter built-up area. The college is the centre for merit based state wide admission/placement for engineering and pharmacy. It is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University (GTU) since 2008.

It is adjacent to Gujarat University and near some of the most prestigious institutions of Ahmedabad like Physical Research Laboratory, Indian Institute of Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association. The institute is All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved. The following branches have been accredited by NBA: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Environmental Engineering, Textile Engineering, Rubber Technology, Plastic Technology, New Delhi. The college serves as the co-ordination centre for the centralized admissions to technical courses in Gujarat.

More than 750 students are accommodated in six hostel blocks of L.D College. Students manage four hostel messes to provide healthy food to the hostel students.

L.D College of Engineering has launched a placement cell and all the placement procedures are carried out online.

A World Bank funded programme is run all over the world for which L.D college of Engineering is the main centre in Gujarat, India. High quality of equipments, Machinery, software & e-learning systems along with language laboratory has been established under this programme at a cost of a whopping Rs.15 crores. Preparation for TEQIP Phase-II has already been initiated.

The College is in the vicinity of Ahmedabad where all the basic necessities required by students including food, clothing, shelter, canteen, workshop, Xerox centres, cyber cafes, hang out places and more. It is a dream of every engineering aspirant in Gujarat (including me) to study in L.D College of Engineering.
