Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) was set up by the Government of India in collaboration with Government of Gujarat and Indian Industry as an autonomous Institute in 1961. Conceived not only as a business school but also as a management Institute, IIMA builds on over 45 years of excellence and leadership in management education. It was designed by the American architect Louis Kahn. It has two campuses, the Heritage Campus and the New Campus joined by an underground gallery.
Rated as India’s best and Asia’s foremost Business School, IIMA continues to be ranked as one of the finest institutions in the world; having an academic rigour that matches the top league. In the QS Global 200 Business Schools Report it was ranked #2 in the Asia-Pacific region for 2012.In India; it was ranked first by the Hindustan Times India’s top 50 business schools of 2011, by the 2012 edition of CNBC-TV18’s Top B-Schools in India and by the Business Today 50 best business schools of 2012.

Similar to the other IIMs, IIM Ahmedabad currently offers diplomas in management and not degrees. Post Graduate Program in Management, Management for Executives, Public Management and Policy and others like Fellow Programme in Management, Post-Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management, Faculty Development Programme and Armed-forces Programme

IIM Ahmedabad has a wide network of partner B-schools through which it conducts student exchange programs. For the Post graduate programme in management, the exchange program is carried out between September and December every year. More than 100 students opt for the student exchange program every year. The institute has tie ups with over 50 partner B-schools including Nanyang Business School, University of Melbourne, McGill University, Darden School of Business , University of Cologne, Bocconi University, Manchester Business School.

Apart from this, Prayaas is a community service initiative started by IIM Ahmedabad students eight years ago as classroom project. It works towards improving the life of children in the slum areas surrounding the institute by providing quality education to them.
