This new branch of Gormoh on the connecting road between SG highway and SP Ring road is one of the several options available in the vicinity. A good parking space that is a major issue at most other place sets you in a good mood for the experience. With big French windows overlooking the parking and the road also adds to the ambience of the restaurant. The menu is impressive with Punjabi, Mexican, Italian and Continental food being served.
We ordered a cheese-jalapeno soup and a plate of mushrooms with garlic. The soup was spicy and creamy and actually contained huge chunks of both jalapenos and cheese, something which is so pathetically lacking in other versions of this soup at other restaurants. And as for the mushrooms, well, they are not the regular mushrooms that many other restaurants serve which is just another version of a Chinese-Manchurian with loads of onions, peppers and sauces. The mushrooms are freshly tossed in butter with burnt garlic and that’s it. No other flavours to spoil the fun. The dish also has the typical mushroom smell that comes when you start sauteeing the mushrooms, which is something that only true mushroom lovers can appreciate
The tomato based sauce that they use for pastas would not make a mark in the initial morsels. However, as you spooned more and more, the creamy-tomatoey taste grows on you.
They have a section in the menu dedicated to Hollywood. The names of these dishes are all based on some other the other movie. So you have ‘Harry Potter Meal’, ‘James Bond Meal’, ‘Transporter Meal’ and ‘Die Hard Meal’. There is no apparent relation between the names and the meal served; because the Harry Potter has nothing of Pumpkin in it. We ordered this dish and it was a platter of spaghetti, veggies (cauli-beans-peas) and a huge patty covered with luscious gravy and cheese. The patty is not the typical floury cutlet served elsewhere. The crunchy exterior and the well flavoured inside was so yum, the patty can be served as a complete dish by itself. The huge portion served in the HP steak is enough as a complete meal for a single person.
All in all, a good place (good ambiance, serving staff, parking). Not a place to visit if one wishes to experiment with exotic stuff, but a definite recommend to those who wish to have a hearty, delicious and satisfying meal which would average around Rs. 700 for two!
