Dakshinayan Ahmedabad

Dakshinayan is vegetarian restaurant located near Fun Republic in a quiet little by lane. It may be a little difficult to locate it, if you are not familiar with this restaurant, but the waiting line outside this tiny place will definitely help you. There is no designated parking for this restaurant, but if you drive a little ahead, you will find a big plot with pay and park facility. Once inside the restaurant, you will realize, this place has the old world charm of an Udipi place.

As the name suggests, Dakshinayan is all about food from the Southern States of India. The menu is a decent mix of all popular southern dishes like idli, vade, rasam, dosa, appams, uttapams, traditional thali, puri-kurma, filter coffee etc. Even though the menu is compact, the taste of the food here is power packed. Once your order arrives, you would be tempted to just dive into the scrumptious food. Its just not the food which is delicious, even the accompaniments offered such as coconut chutney, tomato chutney, sambhar etc. are lip smacking. You would be asking for unlimited refills for sure! All the dishes are priced decently and once you look at the quantities, you would be glad that you took your entire family there for dinner!

The service is quick and the waiters are prompt at refilling you sambar bowls! The interiors are neat with interesting detailing but the lighting is a little dull. Nevertheless, the tables are huge and can accommodate 6-7 people easily on a single table, making it an ideal place when dining in huge groups.

Dakshinayan is indeed a place fit for South Indian food enthusiasts.
