23 January 2014 was indeed an auspicious day. So very auspicious that millions of marriages took place. Literally! Throughout the day (& even night) I could see and hear band baaja baraat thronging every street and cross road of Ahmedabad. Marriage is the time when you being the relative (close or far doesn’t matter) /friend (close/just friends doesn’t matter)/ neighbour/colleague (junior/senior doesn’t matter) grab the opportunity to prove your love for dance on the streets!
And there was one more dance I have witnessed on this day.
Idiomas (Indo-French Dance Project), a fusion piece presented by Vaishal Trivedi & Sébastien Vela Lopez was not only a visual treat but also a soul stirring art. Vaishali’s Kathak & Sébastien’s hip hop combo was incredibly fused together to form a language.
Says Vaishali, “Dance doesn’t need a language. It has an expression, a gesture, a rhythm which it communicates”.
Through their performance at Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad they proved that there is only one universal language to break all barriers & i.e. art! Without any more words, I propose just look at their art through photos and you will know what I am saying.
