CEPT University celebrated the eighth convocation of its students on the 4th of January, 2014. Being a former student of CEPT myself, it has become a tradition to attend every convocation for the past few years.
This year the chief guest was Professor Kaivan Munshi, a Frank Ramsey Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge, UK. Professor Munshi has taught economics at Brown, UPenn and The University of Boston. His research is mostly related to the analysis of communities and their interaction with economic activity. The research has been supported in part by the US National Science Foundation and the US National Institutes of Health. Here is a link to the speech he gave at the ceremony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsZt-7kGpWk
Bimal Patel, President CEPT University and Sanjay R Lalbhai, Chairman of CEPT were also present for the same.
This year, 446 students received their degrees, out of which 75 were undergraduate students, 363 postgraduates and 8 were doctorate students.
The event was attended not only by graduating students and their families, but current students, staff as well as alumni. Post the ceremony, students were celebrating and getting pictures clicked, all in all a very fun filled atmosphere was seen around.
