A live music performance can truly heat up a chilly evening. If you are in Ahmedabad, then you can catch Circle of Sound performing live at Natarani Amphitheatre, Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, Usmanpura on Wednesday, 16th January, 2013, 8.30 PM onwards.
“Circle of Sound” is a collaboration between British composer Soumik Datta and Austrian drummer Bernhard Schimpelsberger.
Soumik Datta is a young 28-year-old British composer and one of the most acclaimed Sarod (muscular plucked Indian string instrument) players of his generation. Whereas, Bernhard Schimpelsberger plays the drum kit like a tabla genius. A unique drummer & percussionist in his own rights, he seamlessly blends western groove drumming and complex Indian rhythms in his innovative drumming style. Together they produce Indian classical, punk, processed vocals, synth bass, live looping and electronica music to spectacular effect.
Circle of Sound will take the audiences on a breathtaking audio-visual journey through India and Europe. Circle of Sound is the story of how two men overleap cultural borders to find a unified language in music. Circle of Sound is a cross-arts production merging exceptional live music and specially created films.
In many ways, Bernhard and Soumik’s collaboration has all the ingredients of great experimental music. If you have nothing to do on a Wednesday night, we recommend, you head straight to Natarani.
This performance is open to all.
