When we were children, all we wanted for Christmas was Santa to flood us with gifts. But have we ever wondered what does it take to be a Santa? The same thought provoked Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad North to become Santa this Christmas for the children of the Prakash School of Mentally Retarded.
‘Being Santa’ – the name given to the event wherein the Rotaractors from the city reached the school at 10 am and served breakfast for the kids. Later, a ‘dhinchak‘ party was arranged for the kids where everyone mingled and danced to the tunes of chinta– ta and dhinka chika! This was followed with a small singing competition and musical chairs round. The winners were gifted Santa caps and soft toys, but there was more to be added to the gift list.
After playing games and dancing, tiffin boxes were distributed with snacks to the kids as a gift from Santa! This event was also supported by the parent club of Rotaract i.e. Rotary Club of Ahmedabad North. “We just didn’t want to go back to our homes after spending so much of time with these children. We promised them to keep coming back with more such events in future. For that matter, we have also started planning something for the next month too!” expressed Debashish Hota, Vice President of the Club.
Rotaract Club Ahmedabad North was initiated in the year 2011 under its parent club Rotary Club of Ahmedabad North as a young wing for the youngsters of the age group of 18 to 30 years. The club performs various social, leadership and professional events for the society in the city. Students are welcome to join the club & be a volunteer in the club.
