With summers in full swing, ice creams are the obvious choice to beat the rising temperatures. There are very few Amdavadis who can resist an ice cream in this scorching heat especially when there are so many F&B outlets serving ice creams these days. Amdavadis not only eat ice creams as desserts after meals, but we have seen a lot of professionals eating ice creams as snacks during office hours as well! We don’t blame them; it’s the summer!
Ahmeadabad has many places that offer gelato ice creams, ice creams buckets, ice cream desserts and ice cream on a rock. But a true Amdavadi foodie is the one who would try and experiment making ice creams at home! There is nothing more luscious than a rich homemade ice cream and there is nothing more fulfilling than making it yourself!
We have seen Amdavadis go crazy over food workshops in the city, so we thought of bringing an ice cream recipe to you from an expert chef! The unadulterated pleasures that 1 scoop of simple homemade ice cream can offer cannot be compared with commercial ice creams!
So we got in touch in Executive Chef Mrinmoy Pal, Hyatt Ahmedabad and asked him to share his favorite home made ice cream recipe that we all too can whip up at our homes! Chef Mrinmoy Pal suggested that Amdavadis should first try their hand at making some vanilla ice cream and then move on to make some more complex flavors.
Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe:
- Milk – 500 ml
- Cream – 500 ml
- Vanilla pod – 2 nos.
- Sugar – 160 gms
- Egg yolk – 6
- Boil milk and cream separately
- Now add the vanilla pod (Slit two pod)
- Mix the mixture
- Mix egg yolk and sugar together in a double boiler for a while
- Add milk and cream mixture with egg yolk and sugar mixture, and let it cool
- Now strain the total liquid and mix it in a blender. Let it cool and then pour it in ice cream mould
- Keep it in the freezer to set.
