ADALAJ NI VAV

Adalaj Ni Vav or the Adalaj step well is a popular tourist attraction located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad located about 18km from the city and near gandhinagar. It has an average elevation of about 68 meters. The well was built in 1499 A.D by queen Rudabai.

The design on its walls includes leaves, flowers, birds, fish and other scintillating ornamental designs. This vav has five stories and three gates to enter. On both sides of the steps are balconies with beautiful carvings. Rows of carved elephants mark the levels and provide fantasy of the rest.

Again this place has revived since the last decade and a popular picnic spot for the budding photographers and nature lovers.
