There was a time when playing sports in leisure time was an ‘in’ thing for youth, but not anymore. Today, youngsters are experimenting with other activities as well like photography, cooking, DJing, being a Mystery Shopper etc. I bumped into an ‘Engineering’ student, in ‘Khau Gali’ of Law Garden where he was capturing aapnu Amdavad for his theme ‘People Photography’. The photographer in question is Shashwat Desai who shares with us the 5 places in Ahmedabad which he finds best for Street Photography
IIM Ahmedabad Road
The best thing about the road is that we find almost all types of people. From 7am to 10pm, IIM A’bad Road is full of emotions and stories waiting to be seen and told about either pictorially or verbally. For People/Street Photography, I personally believe that this is the best street to click. The best times to click are 7am to 9am & 6pm to 9pm. There are no security issues here.
Thol Bird Sanctuary
The most beautiful & natural place around Ahmedabad is Thol Bird Sanctuary. Be it a weekday or a weekend, there will always be people visiting this place.
Law Garden
The heart of the city, where one can observe or find people of all ages hanging out. The best part about this street is that, you can capture all the moods that a human displays through all ages. From a child enjoying a horse ride, to middle-aged ladies enjoying teekhi paani-puri! Any time of the day is a good time to click at Law Garden. The only hassle here is that your capture shouldn’t hurt the other person. This street is full of people with different expressions which might bring a smile on your face too while shooting.
Pol
When you want to capture the history of the town where you have loved and lived, Pol is the street one should visit. From history to bonds, to sheer unity between every member of the Pol, this street is THE PARADISE for a photographer aspiring to click people or streets. The only hassle is, you have to convince the person you are clicking with a very genuine reason behind the click.
Geeta Mandir
This location is the best street to capture the moments, which talk about the richness of the most common people found in India, the lower class. The little happiness they get from sharing a tea with their fellow friends. Nothing can be better than clicking these moments. The best time to click is 6pm to 8pm. The only hurdle is lighting.
